if + PAST PERFECT + MODAL VERBS

C1 point 112 in CLAUSES/conditional is defined as:

Conditional subordinate clauses with ‘if’ + the past perfect simple and modal verb + ‘have’ + ‘-ed’ in the main clause, to talk about imagined situations in the past, often with regret.

*Note the same definition with ‘would‘ is listed at B1!  Basically, this means that for this to be C1, it can’t contain ‘would’.

iWeb doesn’t allow long searches such as:

_VM have_VVN * if * had _VVN

So we can start this with half the search and then manually look through the data for the other half.

Title NEA – Research Spotlight on Academic Ability Grouping

I was acting out because of boredom and my teachers told my mother that I could find 101 things to do with a pencil and writing with it was not one of those things, and it was even suggested that being held back may have contributed to my ADHD. Ability grouping could have greatly benefitted me even if all they had done was technically place me in a higher-grade level... that would have effectively allowed me to continue learning while other students my age caught up to me…
